The Bridge Sitges Blau began to take shape in April 2016. It was promoted by the celebration of bridge games at the SUNWAY Hotel, every Tuesday, called by the Emil consortium.
After a stop, from June to September due to the hotel’s needs, the bridging activity was resumed in the same place with the “Pool of homage to Nico” on September 30, 2016.
In December, after the Sunway Bridge Festival, this hotel did not facilitate our continuity, so we had to find another place to play.
We found him at the Hotel Medium Sitges Park where we started playing on December 16, 2016 (weekends). As attendance decreased (parking problems and others …..), steps were taken that led to the authorization of the Hotel Av.Sofia to play in its Land Restaurant.
The promoters of our club decided to start the bridge games at that hotel, much more accessible than the previous one, from Thursday, January 26, 2017 (from Thursday to Sunday).
In view of the consolidation of the project, on February 11, 2017, the Constituent Assembly of the non-profit Association called: SITGES BLAU, Bridge club, was convened after a voting process among the group of players. After the aforementioned “Assembly”, the association and its Statutes were registered in the corresponding Register of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
It happened that, in June 2017, the Hotel Avenida Sofia changed ownership and was renamed Hotel MiM Sitges managed by Majestic Hotel Group. In the same month, a rental contract was formalized with the management of said hotel to play in its “Geo Room”, which was in force until January 31, 2020.
As the attendance of players grew, our managers were looking for a better location for the club. And they reached an agreement with the Club de Mar for our entity to manage the Bridge at its facilities.
During January 2020, the appropriate reforms were carried out intensively, which allowed the inauguration of the facilities on February 1, 2020.
Unfortunately, in March 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the social restrictions and confinements began that accompanied us throughout the year, which, although in less extent still today.
